The Museum is located inside the complex of Villa Guariglia, a magnificent summer residence.
On 9th May 1981 (later extended in 1992) in the turret of Belvedere, Villa Guariglia, the Ceramic Museum of Vietri was inaugurated. The collection had already been formed at the Provincial Archaeological Museum of Salerno since the twenties, with many elements from the Guariglia collection and various private donations that were moved to Raito. In 1999 a second exhibition space was opened on the ground floor of the Villa, with new collections acquired in recent years by the Province of Salerno.

To welcome the visitor in the garden in front of the Museum, there is the lapidary with Roman remains
